TO WAI (Spoken like the letter "Y"). Wai is a Thai verb meaning to bow.
BRENNAN! A New Musical, But Actually A Short Film, depicts an Asian cultural ritual in which people gather to offer respect, offering food and other favorite things to dead relatives. The setting is usually an alter type table to place the offering on and then pictures of your loved one either of the alter or wall. During this ritual, one will wai (to bow) and hold incense sticks with praying hand. This ritual is repeated three times, with space in between so that your relatives can enjoy the offerings. This is simply a time to connect with your relatives who have passed and ask them for health and happiness and other things in your life that may bring you joy.The theme for the 2021 Easterseals Disability Film Challenge was Mockumentary. The following depiction of this ritual in BRENNAN!... is completely satirical and is meant to lift up and education about the Asian experience and culture. BRENNAN1 A New Musical, But Actually A Short Film is the brain-child of Brennan Srisirikul. He conceived the concept in part to honor birthplace (Bangkok, Thailand) and his family's tradition.
A TIME TO CONNECT WITH, HONOR AND SHOW RESPECTS TO YOUR RELATIVES WHO HAVE PASSED.
